#Nokia imala gotove VR naočale ali ipak plasirala OZO kameru

U intervjuu za Engadget na Sundace festivalu, Ramzi Haidamu, direktor Nokia Technologies odjela, je otkrio kako je Nokia imala već gotove VR naočale, odnosno HMD (Head Mounted Display). Razlog zašto ih nisu predstavili leži u tržištu koje je prema Ramziju već prekrcano dobro pozicioniranim VR uređajima poput onih tvrtki Oculus, Sony ili HTC te bi bilo neisplativo ulagati u još jedan proizvod. Zato su se okrenuli ka stvaranju sadržaja za VR naočale i kreirali OZO kameru koja može snimati video i zvuk u 360° te ujedno omogućava brzo pregledavanje netom snimljenog filma.

“We had some projects in augmented reality. We had projects in the camera. We had projects in head-mounted displays,” says Nokia Technologies president Ramzi Haidamus”We had projects all over the ecosystem, so to speak. And it was a combination of: How good are we technically? How well are we protected from an IP perspective? And finally, where is the area where we’re going to get the biggest advantage from the time to market?”

Haidamus soon realized that, rather than compete with the likes of Oculus, Sony and HTC for the crowded VR headset market, Nokia could plug a hole in the production process and reinvent itself.

“The HMD I saw was actually pretty good, but I felt like there was so much competition that was going to happen in the marketplace,””It was a no-brainer to go after the camera versus the head-mounted displays, which are going to be quite commoditized pretty soon,” Haidamus says of the decision to go all in on Ozo.

Uglavnom, Nokia je ovdje pokazala kako ne želi više kreirati proizvod samo radi proizvoda, već jednostavno želi biti predvodnik i kreirati nove trendove. Postavlja se pitanje hoćemo li ugledati ponovno Nokia mobilne uređaje, ali ne samo njih već i druge nove nosive uređaje. Ukoliko je ova strategija već zacrtana plasirati nove mobilne uređaje nema smisla, no Nokia brand treba nekako održavati. Upravo je zahvaljujući mobitelima Nokia stekla svoje ime pa ne bi čudilo da vrlo ležerno izbace koji mobilni uređaj za svoje vjerne štovatelje. Imaju dovoljno vremena kreirati ga i učiniti ga poželjnim, a sigurno je u svijetu veliki broj Nokia fanova koji bi ponovno kupili uređaj s Nokia logom.
